Swimming Holes - COIVD-19

  • Don’t go to public swimming holes if you are sick.

  • Avoid crowded trails and swimming holes that do not allow a minimum of six feet of distance. If a parking lot is crowded, please go elsewhere.

  • Leash your dog.

  • Avoid risky activities, so as not to put more strain on hospitals and emergency responders.

  • Be mindful of the popularity of these sites and don’t linger too long, to make space for others to be there.

  • Do not wear a mask while swimming, but do bring a mask with you for walking along the trail.

Heat can cause serious illness. Heat illnesses can be deadly. On very hot days, sometimes your body temperature control systems can't keep up and your body temperature can get dangerously high. This makes you at greater risk for serious heat illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency. Dial 9-1-1 or get immediate medical help if you are concerned about your health or someone else's health when it's hot outside.

Public playgrounds in Johnson are Still CLOSED

Town of Johnson has closed all playground equipment until further notice.  While the Governor declared that recreation areas can open, our Town & Village officials, Emergency Management Team, and Committees need time to decide how and when that can be done safely.  Until then, the play structure and Sk8 Terrain remains off limits.

This includes:

·        Old Mill Park (Railroad Street) Playground equipment

·        Legion Field (School Street) Community Oven, Bandstand, and playground equipment

·        Johnson Elementary School (School Street) All playground equipment and basketball courts

Members of the public may use the open spaces at these parks. They can walk or ride bikes in any open spaces including the bike paths and tracks like the Rail Trail and the bike tracks at the SkatePark.

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail -Status Update

The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail is not closed, however use is being discouraged at this time.  The trail is not being maintained at this time.
